Dilly Dilly Takes Over Augusta
Here’s one you probably didn’t expect to be reading about. When the 2018 Masters tees off in Augusta on Thursday saying the Bud Light catch phrase “Dilly Dilly” will get you kicked off the course. And no, this isn’t a belated April Fool’s joke. According to published reports DD made the list of things spectators aren’t allowed to say due to the disruptive nature of a dozen of beer swilling dudes yelling Dilly Dilly after every drive all week long.
For Budweiser this situation is pure marketing gold. I’m sure the creative team over at Wieden + Kennedy had no idea their slug line would make it all the way to the Master’s naughty list, but they’re not about to let the moment slip by. In retaliation for banning the phrase Budweiser’s PR team is sending 2,000 free Dilly Dilly tees to Augusta along with the proclamation “For if thou cannot say Dilly Dilly, thou can still wear Dilly Dilly.”
So my only question is what happens if one of the players yells Dilly Dilly after a great shot? If the rule applies to them too Bubba Watson may be in for a short tournament.
