I Guess Creepy Sells
AdWeek is out with its annual list of the Top Media Activations, and to say this year’s winner is a stomach-turner is an understatement. According to AdWeek the top media activation belongs to Netflix and its creative team at Mediahub, for the promotion of its new Altered Carbon series. For some background Altered Carbon is a new Netflix show set in the dystopian world of 2318 where humans can literally purchase new bodies as often as they want.
Now back to 2018. Imagine walking up to a bus stop in West Hollywood only to see a very realistic human body effectively cling-wrapped to the side of the structure. Once you get past the “Is that a real body?” shock, you might realize that it’s just a promo exhibit for a new Netflix show. Even by West Hollywood standards this was a jaw dropper. LA TV affiliates were actually doing reports about the activation – which doesn’t happen very often with what’s essentially a dressed up bus stop.
For this one I’ll give Netflix an A+ for creativity and another A+ for creepy!
