The Digital Majority
To say 2019 is shaping up to be a big year for digital media would be an understatement. According to eMarketer 2019 global spending on digital media is expected to grow by another 17.6% vs. 2018 for a total of $333B. That’s enough spending to officially vault digital into the majority ad spending channel with just over 50% of total global ad revenue.
It’s also interesting to see how fast the more developed countries’ percent of ad spending is moving towards digital. In the US we like to think of ourselves as being on the vanguard of all things tech, but there are actually seven countries whose digital media percentage is higher than ours.
If you think digital passing the 50% milestone is crazy, just give it another 5-10 years. Even if digital ad spending’s growth slows to under 10% (as eMarketer predicts), we could be in the 70-80% range by then. Talk about living in a digital world!
