Digital media’s annual rite of Spring, the Newfronts, are about to kick off this week in New York. For some background the Newfronts are digital’s answer to the TV Upfronts, where the latest and greatest content and ad products go on display in front of a gaggle of brands and agency types.
For the first time this year the Newfronts are going bicoastal. During the week of April 30th 16 publisher presentations (plus one IAB Insights breakfast) will take place in Manhattan. Then the whole show will happen all over again in LA during early Q4. The goal of this staggered dual-Newfront plan is to increase participation on the West Coast and also create more of a rolling conversation instead of an annual update. This feels appropriate given agility and speed of innovation in digital, which isn’t locked in to a year-long calendar the way broadcast TV is.
The IAB, which helped launch the inaugural Newfronts in 2012, has a full calendar of this week’s schedule in New York here. Looks like a busy week.
