Live From New York . . . It’s Google’s New Hardware!

Today in NYC Google will be unveiling its latest line of hardware releases in what’s fast becoming an October tradition for the tech giant.  Many of Google’s releases will seem eerily similar to Apple’s device debut last month, but I guess imitation is the best form of flattery.  Here’s a quick summary of what to look for.

Let’s start with some basics – phones, tablets, laptops, etc..  Expect to see two sizes of the Pixel 3 smartphone (regular and XL), the Pixelbook 2 laptop, and the all-in-one Pixel Slate 2-in-1 Chromebook tabletish contraption.  The Chromecast 3 will also be released – this is the device Best Buy mistakenly began selling a week early.  And for all you earbud aficionados out there, the Pixel Buds 2 are on their way.

For my money the most interesting debut is the Google Home Hub (image below).  This feels like the first step towards having a smart control panel which can connect to and command the different IoT devices in your home.  Google has made a big investment in connected home hardware, and for the first time we may be seeing how all these devices can come together in one system.

Google’s Hardware show starts at 11:00a ET – who’s ready to geek out?!?
